Accessing Administrative Data

What is "Administrative" Data

In essence, administrative data in this context refers to all data residing on the ACS mainframe computer (rutadmin) or on network servers controlled and/or operated by Administrative Computing Services.

What sorts of access does ACS provide to Administrative Data?

Administrative Computing Services provides several data access services. It assists administrative users in getting access to specific data within the system by putting them in touch with the custodian(s) of the data required. ACS will provide ad hoc reporting on the data. Assistance in establishing an account on the mainframe will be provided, so that requestors can select, modify, and output data using their own capabilities. Finally, data warehouses have been set up and more are under development or in planning. This allows a user to access selected data using various tools to extract and report upon that data. (This is discussed further under Oracle(tm) Site Licensing.)

OK; how do I get access?

  1. If you are new to administrative computing, go to Administrative Computing Service's Getting Access site. Follow the instructions there concerning the New User Access Request Form.
  2. If you need an IMS or a TSO account on the administrative mainframe computer, rutadmin, see the rutadmin access instructions at ACS' web site.
  3. If you already have an IMS/TSO account on rutadmin, and know the application or application area from which you need data, consult the Data Custodian List, and contact the custodian listed there to obtain permission to use that data.
  4. Oracle users should go to ACS' Getting Access site and select the specific application for which access is required.
