Reporting Abuse
If you are from outside Rutgers, and want to report a problem caused by a user or system at Rutgers, please contact one of the following.
Unless the situation is urgent,
people within Rutgers may be better off using the
procedures outlined in the Acceptable
Use Policy and its guidelines.
abuse@rutgers.edu
The normal approach to reporting abuse is to send email
to abuse@rutgers.edu. Staff at this address will dispatch the
problem to the appropriate area. The rest of the entries in this
section are intended for situations where you need to find
knowledgeable staff immediately, and can't wait for an
email response from abuse.
Specialized Contacts
For problems caused by routers or other network infrastructure, you may contact the network help desk, helpdesk@tdmx.rutgers.edu (732-445-0327).
For problems that raise significant policy issues, you may prefer to
speak to the OIT Director on your campus, or to the
Director of Information Protection and
Security, Lance Jordan, lancejor@rci.rutgers.edu,
732-445-8011.
Immediate Help or Help in an Ongoing Situation
If you need immediate help and these people are not available, contact New Brunswick Computer Operations at 732-445-2293. We encourage you to do this in cases where there is an ongoing attack from a Rutgers system, since it's normally important to look at such attacks while the problem is still occuring.
